Sampling Foundations #3 - Origins VitaZing

Another foundation (or in this case tinted moisturiser) that I've started to use up is the Origins VitaZing spf15 moisturiser with sheer tint release. The coloured particles in the moisturiser blend into the skin to give sheer coverage and a healthy glow to the skin.

(I tried to get a close up of the coloured particles, but it didn't go as planned)

To see how much of tint you can actually get from VitaZing, check out Mez from All Made Up's review.

Personally, I find that this product is not really for me as I find I have to apply powder over the top (especially over my nose) as it's a tiny bit greasy for me. As I have dry and dehydrated skin, I applied VitaZing over my usual Simple moisturiser so that my skin didn't feel dry and tight. VitaZing is great for days when I don't want to put too much effort into my makeup, as I just buff the tinted moisturiser into the skin, apply a little blusher and my look is done. However, I definitely need a product with a bit more coverage and a less shiny finish for everyday wear, which means that VitaZing is definitely not a product that I am considering purchasing full size.

Has anyone else tried Origins VitaZing? What did you think of the product?

Cake International 2013 at London Excel

[Note: Picture heavy post]

On Saturday, I went to the Cake International Show at London Excel (with my mum, aunt and cousin). I didn't buy much as I'm not a professional baker, so I didn't need to pick up tools, equipment, supplies etc. (although I did get a cake pop kit and some cupcakes to eat). I'm glad that I did go as there was an exhibition of cakes that people had decorated and to put it simply, they were amazing! Instead of me babbling on, I'll let the pictures do the talking =)

An embroidery inspired cake. So delicate and pretty.

Macarons in neat rows and columns, make up the outside design to this cake =)

This one was my favourite! All those miniature cakes, biscuits and desserts must have taken ages to make!

Another favourite design! I love the colours on this cake =)

Mendhi on cake! Two of my favourite things combined =)

This cake looked like it had tiny caviar beads stuck onto it to make the pattern (not sure what technique was used to create the texture)

Handmade flowers. Extremely fiddly to make and so delicate.

This is actually a stack of biscuits! Makes such a cute little layer cake (look-a-like) though =)

I didn't manage to take pictures of all the cakes, but there were plenty more amazing pieces of art that didn't resemble cake and icing at all!

See any cakes you like? Which one was your favourite?

Creative Stitches and Hobbycraft Show [haul]

Thanks to the lovely MangoWhirl for telling me about the Groupon half price offer on tickets for the Creative Stitches and Hobbycraft Show, which gave me the chance to snap up two tickets for the price of one and go to the show with my mum. The show was at the Excel Exhibition Centre in London (luckily not too far from me). We went on the last day of the show (Saturday 6th) and spent a good 3-4 hours browsing the different stalls, watching the creative fashion show, taking a look at the demonstrations and workshops and finally having a little bite to eat just as the show was ending. There were many different crafts exhibited at the show, including card making, scrapbooking, needlework, cross stitching, knitting and jewellery making.

One of the (many) stalls! This one selling beads and jewellery making components.

Decopatch Cat

There was an exhibition of patchwork quilts completed by artists as well a few other displays. I didn't manage to get great pictures, so I won't be sharing them on here. =(

I did pick up a few bits for my jewellery making box, as well as two mini cross stitch kits and a paper pad which I'll be using for scrapbooking. I also took advantage of the Decopatch offer which included the decopatch glue, brush, 2 papers and an item (value of £3) for £10. I'll be trying out decopatch for the first time and hopefully I'll end up with lots of decorated items to place around the house. The papers were just too pretty for me to pick out two, so I ended up buying 8 (2 with the original offer, and 6 that were on offer as well). My favourite paper has to be the black with the white lace design (which is why I picked up two of them!) =)

Are you into crafts? What sort of crafts do you enjoy?

March Empties

So, I completely missed the February empties post because I didn't have any products that were empty, although many were close. I haven't really used up many products but here are some that have been finished =)

Products that have been used up this month are:
Balance Me Super Moisturising Body Wash: I think this was a magazine freebie at some point last year. I don't really spend much on shower gels and body washes. This one was quite refreshing (thanks to the patchouli, lavender and bergamot), and it did lather up well. This would be the perfect size for travelling with as well, as it's 100ml and the tube packaging means it doesn't take up much space at all.

Halal and Organic Yellow Mango Butter Balm: I bought this at Smoky not Smudgy, and I've been using it mostly on my feet. The butter balm was moisturising and did help with keeping dry skin to a minimum during the winter, although I wasn't too keen on the smell.

Bath and Body Works Malibu Heat Body Lotion: I love the scent of this body lotion as it reminds me of Summer. It's fruity and floral and the scent lasts for quite a while on the skin. I've been using this to moisturise my arms and hands as it has a light texture and absorbs quickly into the skin. Now if only we could get our hands on Bath and Body Works in the UK!
